Five
Ways for Teens to Lose Weight
It is actually quite deplorable
to see how our young men and women are already fighting the
battle of the bulge. The density of overweight teenagers is
much higher now than it was in the previous generation and that
must surely set some alarm bells ringing. An overweight
population means an unhealthy population and something needs to
be done immediately.
Here are five ways in which teens
can lose their weight. But, of course, as in any other method
of weight management, these methods also require determination
and dedication. If you have that and if you follow these
methods you are sure to succeed.
1.
Put an hour of exercise each day
–
Teenagers do not require
exercise as much as adults do to keep in shape.
But if you can manage to put
in one hour each day for keeping your body in shape,
nothing could be better than that. These could be things that you love
doing. Gang up with some of your friends and go jogging
in the morning, or
cycling in the evening. Play some active sports with
them, whichever you like. Just keep your body in motion for that
one hour. You will find that your weight is being managed
beautifully.
2.
Cut short on the television and the computer
games
–
These are certainly the prime
distractions young people of the world have today.
No, this is not a lecture on
why you should stop doing these things, but you can
definitely make an effort to cut out on them.
There's absolutely no need to
watch all programs on television or to spend all your
free hours shacked up in your room with your
PlayStation. These
activities make you sit in one place for long hours which
adds up the fat deposits in the body. As mentioned before, you need to keep
your body moving to lose weight.
3.
Have snacks, but healthy ones
–
Teenagers love to keep
snacking. Do that by all means, but you must absolutely
stop all those oily junk foods that are being passed on
as snacks. Put an
absolute break on the hamburgers and the fries and
instead pile fresh vegetables and fruits in your
refrigerator. If you
feel like a snack, dig into an apple or chomp a carrot.
You will find these foods really keep you in best spirits
throughout the day.
4.
Manage your plate and control your palate
–
This is an extension of the above
point, but it applies to your meals. When you have your meals, the key is to eat a
balanced diet. Do not gorge
only on foods that you like to eat, something that all
teenagers are prone to do. Stop picky eating.
Keep your plate well rounded
off in all the nutrients that a growing body like yours
requires, and in time you will see yourself becoming
fitter and healthier.
5.
Keep away from all kinds of vices
– Sorry to mention this, but
a lot of teenagers are falling prey to alcoholism, smoking and
even drug abuse. Each of
these habits can impair your body's metabolism in strange ways
and one of the things they can do is to make your body bloat up
in a bizarre manner. You
must always say no to these things the first time, every
time.
Sometimes losing weight is as easy as knowing
the foods to eat to
lose
weight.
